Technical Dossier & Guidelines

Overview

Somalia faces acute climate vulnerability alongside enormous energy transition opportunities. SNREC utilizes **S&P Global's Energy Transition Framework** and **IOGP's Decarbonization Roadmap** to steer Somalia towards low-carbon resource development, zero flaring, and sustainable industrial energy security.

Energy Transition & Decarbonization Pillars

1. S&P Global Energy Trilemma Optimization Balancing the three core legs of the energy transition: - **Energy Security**: Harnessing offshore associated natural gas to replace imported heavy fuel oil. - **Energy Equity**: Expanding low-cost microgrids to remote mining communities. - **Environmental Sustainability**: Eliminating operational carbon emissions through renewable integration.

2. IOGP Methane Elimination & CCUS Implementing real-time satellite flare tracking and leak detection and repair (LDAR) technologies across offshore platforms, working toward zero routine flaring by 2030.

3. Sustainable Mineral Supply for the Global Transition Exporting high-purity Somali minerals (Silica for photovoltaics, Copper and REEs for electrification) under certified low-carbon extraction protocols.
